Camp I-Vy’s Try Something New Initiative
This year we are bringing the joy and pride of trying something new at Camp I-Vy to you. While we may not be able to meet in person, we can get that Camp I-Vy feeling of growing and learning something new, and then join together for a special Camp I-Vy Campfire in the Fall. Camp I-Vy is a time to grow, make friends, and join together as a community, and we are so lucky that we do not have to be in person to do that.
So this year, we want you to try something new, with our help! It can be something we usually have at Camp I-Vy, like archery, hiking, or crafts, or it can be something you’ve always wanted to try, or recently peaked an interest in; like playing guitar, glass blowing, cooking, karate, diving, dance, or even something you thought you would never be able to do, but your hematologist says that you can try!
We want to support you in trying something new this year and will cover up to $500 towards your new activity. Towards the end of the year we will have a campfire to celebrate our community and all our new skills, and mostly to sing some campfire songs together.
In order to receive up to $500 towards trying something new, fill out and turn in the worksheet below to show that you are learning about/understand your bleeding disorder, just like you would in the Health Hut at Camp I-Vy! Money will be sent from the BDFW directly to the organization’s holding classes or selling needed items, or be sent as reimbursement for a pre-approved activity. Email your completed forms for your age range to general@bdfwa.org
Download the worksheet below for your age range and email the completed form to general@bdfwa.org to show that you know about your bleeding disorder and receive the try something new support!

What we love about CAMP I-VY
Camp I-Vy provides an opportunity for kids with a bleeding disorder to discover who they are, to master caring for their bleeding disorder and to form friendships with others like them that will last a lifetime.
At Camp I-Vy, campers can expect: games, songs, hikes, team-building, cookouts, archery, swimming, crafts, variety shows, friends, nature and some pretty fantastic campfires!
Camp I-Vy is a week long residential camp for bleeding disorder patients planned and facilitated in partnership with Camp Huston in Gold Bar, WA. Camp Huston is an American Camp Association (ACA) accredited camp and a leader in summer camp programs both in Washington and nationally.
MEDICAL CARE AT CAMP:
Camp I-Vy features an on-site medical staff comprised of the top bleeding disorder medical professionals in the State of Washington from the Washington Center for Bleeding Disorders and Seattle Children’s.
Throughout the week, campers will learn about their bleeding disorder and (if applicable) practice their self-infusion skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Campers that infuse themselves for the first time at camp are awarded the Big Stick Award, which is presented at closing campfire each summer. The Big Stick presentation is one of the highlights of our year!
We are excited for the Try Something New Initiative for 2021 where we are bringing some of the joys of Camp I-Vy to you, while it is not possible to be in person for camp. Stay tuned to learn more!
